The next Handmade and Timeless Market is being held in Ipswich Town Hall at the same time as the Festival of Beats weekend. There will be lots of events happening at the same time as the market so make sure you take a look at the Festival of the Beats website to find out what is going on.
The “Festival of the Beats” is a month long arts event featuring a series of fringe events at UCS and Atrium Studios in the build-up to the main festival weekend. It will include an exhibition, film event and Jazz event. The main festival weekend from January 31 to February 2, is being held at Ipswich Town Hall where visitors can experience Poetry, spoken word, film, live music and art exhibitions which pay tribute to a literary movement which took off in 1950s America.
Festival of the Beats will bring together the words, music and art of the period through second-generation beat performers such as Michael Horovitz and new contemporary performers from the area such as Joe Runnacles. Other confirmed acts include Attila the Stockbroker, Luke Wright, Henry Lawrence, Silbury Hill and a quartet from the Horn Factory.
The festival is being supported by the Ipswich ReCreate project, which is funding the use of the Town Hall and UCS and Atrium studios, which have supported the festivals resident artists and are providing fringe venues and publicity.
